My name is Emma White, and I am the Owner and Manager of Small World. After qualifying with a Montessori Diploma and gaining experience in Montessori education, I returned to Suffolk in 2014 with my husband to purchase Small World and raise our family. We are incredibly proud that Small World has been awarded an Outstanding rating by Ofsted twice.
As a working mum, I understand the importance of finding high-quality, flexible childcare in a warm and nurturing environment. At Small World, our experienced and highly qualified team is committed to providing exceptional care and a Montessori education, encouraging every child to develop confidence, independence and a lifelong love of learning.
We believe that the early years are the most important for exploration and discovery; that children need opportunities to create, play, make friends and learn, whilst having fun. Small World offers each child an atmosphere of warmth, care and understanding and a place to develop, both as an individual and part of a group.
Meet Our Room Managers
Shelly in Blossom Class for children aged 2 – 3 years
Welcome to Seedlings, our calm, cosy and nurturing baby room, where we provide a safe and loving environment for our youngest children. We follow each baby’s individual routine, supporting their sleep, feeding and play needs with care and attention.
Our experienced team creates a warm, home-from-home atmosphere where babies can explore, play and develop at their own pace, helping them to feel secure, happy and confident as they begin their nursery journey.
Laura in Blossom Class for children aged 2 – 3 years
Welcome to Blossoms, our nurturing room for children aged 2 to 3 years. We provide a warm, stimulating environment where children are encouraged to explore, discover and develop their independence through play. With a focus on sensory experiences, outdoor learning, creativity and child-led activities, we support every child to grow in confidence and curiosity.
We embrace aspects of the Montessori approach, encouraging children to make choices, develop life skills and learn at their own pace. Through daily routines, Makaton signing, language activities and carefully planned transitions, we help children feel secure, valued and ready for their next exciting step in their nursery journey.
….and most of all, we have FUN!
Lauren and Caroline from the Apple Tree Room, for children aged 3 – 4 years
Welcome to Apple Tree, where we provide a happy, secure and stimulating environment for children as they prepare for their next steps. Through a carefully prepared Montessori-inspired environment, we encourage independence, confidence and a love of learning, while supporting all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
Our days include a balance of child-led and adult-guided activities, with children’s interests at the heart of everything we do. We also enjoy specialist sessions in dance, yoga and forest school, helping children to develop new skills and experiences. As children grow, we gently prepare them for school through early phonics, language and literacy activities, ensuring they feel confident and ready for their transition to primary school.
I am most proud of the feedback from local schools as well as the number of teachers we have as parents, which is testament to how well we prepare the children for school.
